You don’t become what you want; you become what you believe.

Sometimes you’ve got to let everything go—purge yourself . . . If you are unhappy with anything . . . whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.

I am going to share these with my class! I am always trying to inspire my students to give their best. I teach at a school that is about 50% black and many of them fail to see the positive role models they have within their own race (and they need that on certain levels to be able to relate). You are awesome… just so you know.
You’re awesome too Kelli! =) I remember what it was like in school – we heard about the same handful of famous and historic black people. After a while you become accustomed to the history and don’t see their accomplishments as noteworthy. Like we take for granted how much of a sacrifice that MLK made… I hope these quotes inspire your students to dig deeper for their everyday heroes. Let me know how they respond to them.
